Welcome to Nashville Youth Athletics
Nashville Youth Athletics has year-round programming for children aged 8-18 interested in distance running. During the fall, we offer developmental and post season cross country. The Developmental season begins in early September and culminates in the Elementary School (grades 3-5) and Middle School (grades 6-8) Regional Championships, held in Nashville. At this meet, athletes have the chance to qualify for the Elementary School and Middle School State Cross Country Championships held in Knoxville every October. During developmental, athletes can run for school-based teams or unattached. NYA will serve as your meet director and facilitator during the developmental season. We do not hold practices nor train athletes during this part of the season. NYA does train athletes during our Post Season XC Program to compete at the South East Regional and National level. Typically, the post season lasts 4-6 weeks, with practice 2-3 days per week and 3 meets per season. The NYA Post Season team routinely competes at the Foot Locker South Championships, the Cross Country Coaches National Youth Championships and is open to anyone in grades 3-12. In addition to Cross Country, Nashville Youth Athletics offers a Spring Developmental Track series. The Developmental season typically occurs during April and consists of 4 meets for grades 2-8, culminating in the Developmental Championships at the end of April/early May. Distances run are 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, & 1600m. NYA will serve as your meet director and facilitator during the developmental season. We do not hold practices nor train athletes for this program.
Seasons are won or lost in the off season, as the saying goes. Train with NYA this summer for that winning edge. We will be offering a 3 day a week training session (5 weeks in duration) for middle and high schoolers to get ready to run fast this fall. Elementary school camp will last two weeks. We will focus on building base mileage, strength and conditioning, a talk about the best way to fuel ourselves throughout the season and beyond.
NYA coaches dedicated young runners through the Nashville Youth Distance Project (NYDP). NYDP is a year round program that combines the serious motivation from youth athletes with the latest science and training philosophies to create a powerful competitor. NYDP athletes compete in local, regional and national level track and cross country meets. This program is for athletes who consider running as their main sport and are willing to dedicate several hours per week to training. Event based standards must be met as well as experience in at least one full season of competition. Please contact coach Hollee if you are interested in this program.
